Alexander County Farmers Market open for the season in Taylorsville, Bethlehem

Posted April 22, 2026

Dust off your reusable totes and get your shopping lists ready… the Alexander County Farmers Market is back for the season, bringing a fresh bounty of local goods to two convenient locations. From the crunch of just-picked vegetables to the sweet scent of handmade soaps and baked goods, this year’s market promises a vibrant showcase of the county’s farmers, artisans, and makers.

One of the biggest changes this season is in Bethlehem, where the market has moved to a new location to better serve the community. Beginning this week, the Bethlehem market will be held every Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Mt. Pisgah Lutheran Church, just off NC Highway 127. The evening hours offer a perfect midweek stop for commuters picking up dinner ingredients or families looking for a relaxed outing.

For those who prefer a weekend tradition, the Taylorsville market returns to its familiar home at the Alexander County Services Center, located off Main Avenue. Saturday hours are 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with a mid-summer shift to 8 a.m. to noon to help vendors and shoppers stay cool during the North Carolina heat.

This year’s lineup is more diverse than ever, with vendors offering seasonal vegetables, farm-raised eggs, local honey, fresh breads, homemade treats, all-natural soaps, unique crafts, and more.

Supporting the Alexander County Farmers’ Market means more than bringing home fresh, locally grown food — it’s an investment in the community. Every purchase helps support local farmers and small businesses while keeping dollars circulating right here at home.

“When you buy local, you aren’t just buying a product; you’re supporting a neighbor’s livelihood and helping our local economy thrive,” said Cari Rosenbalm, Horticulture Agent with Alexander County Cooperative Extension.

Whether you stop by on Thursday evening or make it part of your Saturday routine, the market offers a chance to connect with local growers, discover something new, and enjoy the start of another growing season.
